PANDA EXPRESS' BEIJING BEEF
My local Panda Express has 2-entree plate for $6.50
The best way I would describe Beijing Beef in one sentence is: "It's like sweet and sour chicken, but with beef."
The beef itself is a bit on the chewy side. It's not going to be crispy after sitting in the steam table under the heat lamps for any appreciable amount of time, so if you're looking for crispy, you'd need to go during a mealtime rush when the Beijing Beef has a high turnover rate (i.e. it's selling a lot) so you can get it fresh from the wok. Of course, you'd also have to wait in line for a while.
The sauce is a fairly average sweet and sour sauce with just a hint of spiciness. You'd have to be pretty sensitive to spicy food before you'll be reaching for the water.Overall, not a bad dish, but I won't be choosing it over my beloved Broccoli Beef.
